Does Florida have an estate tax for residents?
The great thing about the state of Florida, there is no inheritance tax upon one’s passing. Many times, people associate the federal estate tax with Florida estate tax. There is no Florida estate tax, and right now, assets which exceed in excess of $5 million are the only estates that have federal estate tax. Accordingly, any assets under that amount, upon which you die in the state of Florida, do not carry with it or impose state estate tax.
